Plant a GardenDonate
- • The Food and Agriculture Org. of the United Nations estimates that 1.5 million Hondurans face hunger
- • Chronic malnutrition affects 25% of children under 5 years of age
- • Stunting effects 27.3% overall, but is 34% in rural areas
Project Eden provides a family with all the necessities to plant and maintain their own garden. The family signs an agreement to take care of their garden and we work with them in the planning and planting of the garden, as well as ensuring they have the supplies they need to be successful.
Community gardens are located at churches or village-owned land. The crops that are harvested from these go towards feeding those in need. Anything extra may be sold to raise money for gas, supplies and cover any other costs.
Working with teachers in rural villages, we plant and care for gardens at schools. These gardens not only provide the school with food, they teach students about agriculture and commerce. Extra harvested crops can be sold at local markets with the proceeds going directly back into the school.
