      About Us

Helping the impoverished people of rural Honduras

Father Daniel St. Laurent saw a need.
An experience in Mexico, a place they called "La Estacion" (the station), led him to seek ways to address the poverty in our world.

Fast forward to Honduras – Father Dan watched a malnourished mother who was unable to provide for her newborn baby and wanted to find a way to change that injustice. He met some young men from the community – and like that carpenter of long ago – started something big by gathering a small group and getting to work. They were provided with a tract of land and buildings owned by the church, and those young men began to transform it from a deserted, dry, and barren field to a green and growing garden. While they planted, and prayed, and waited, Father Dan came back to the US to seek funds and partners.

After 19 years, gardens are producing crops, trees are bearing fruit, and students are attending school, including Universities.

But we can do more.

Project Eden, Inc. is the result of years of building, planting, praying, and seeking. Our mission is two-pronged; nutrition/health, and education.

Most other large humanitarian and relief organizations don’t operate here. In the San Francisco de La Paz area, there are still malnourished children, parents who can’t read or write, and families that don't know where the next meal will come from.

We invite you to join with us to help provide improved nutrition and greater access to education in this region of Honduras. You can help by sponsoring a student, giving a gift of support for the gardens, or by volunteering in Honduras for a week or two.

We have a strong, dedicated team of volunteers who are willing to answer your questions, and help plan and implement immersion trips. You could put together your own trip, with members of your community, or perhaps join a trip planned by another group.

Project Eden, Inc. is a small non-profit organization that began in 2002 to address the need for better nutrition and improved access to education in the rural region of San Francisco de la Paz.
